The cleanest hotel in India Cleanliness, and quiet location away from tourist area Kimansion Hotel was one of the cleanest guest houses we have seen in India after staying at around 15 different places. The location of this home stay was quiet, only about a 10 minute walk from the main town. The price was affordable (in low season) and great value for money. The decor will take you back to the 1950's and is pleasing enough. However, the most interesting phenomenon of the Kimansion Guest House is the in-keeper. An interesting fellow, who has mastered the art of moving in the shadows in silence throughout the foyer of the Kimansion. Security at Kimansion is tight,to be let in or out of the building a gate needs to be unlocked by the in-keeper. But not to worry, even if you are unable to physically see the in-keeper he is most probably present, poised at any moment to silently appear and to assist you. We found the nuances of the in-keeper to be highly entertaining and enjoyable. Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: You can negotiate a very reasonable price to see attractions in the backstreets of Kochi with the Tuck Tucks. However, don't to be lead astray as they will want to take you to the "Gov. approved" stores for their petrol tickets. Just say "No" (if you don't want to go). Also if you stay at Kimansion you will need to walk by a field where the local boys play cricket. Take the time to watch and chat with

unique hotel with funny staff European-style building with huge room. Perfect for honeymoon. 9.7 i booked a small room but after seeing the bigger room, i changed my mind and it's worth it with the price. i think i stayed in the daughter's room of the previous family. room is huge with study table, aircon (you'll need it)and bathtub. breakfast is happened in a dining hall with the european ornament just like the room of course. it's very comfortable to stay here. the staff was a bit annoying at the first time, but soon i realized that he's actually friendly and just try to help. i'd definitely stay here again if i have a chance to visit kochi.

Great location, big rooms and complete privacy. The location 8.7 Kimansion Inn is a beautiful 250 years old building. We stayed in a delux AC room. The best feature of the inn is it's location. All the tourist attactions are within a stone's throw and the area is nice, calm and peaceful. The rooms are huge with a lot of privacy and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place to my friends.

“Excellent stay in an old Portuguese family home” Enjoyed our stay thoroughly here. The building itself is the reason you should stay here. It's over a hundred years old, and is furnished as such. The guys running the place was very friendly and helpful (they organised the best driver we had on our entire India trip!), although waiting to be let into through main door outside office hours wasn't too much fun. Would highly recommend asking for the Indian breakfasts too! Great way to start the day.

Traveler rating: "Very good hotel!" Feb 29, 2012 A TripAdvisor Member We (2 young women) were there for only two nights, as we had already booked a flight. Otherwise we would have stayed daprt! The house is beautiful, super clean, large drafty, quiet and charm, as it is a Colonial building. The family living there are really nice, helpful and friendly area in case someone needs information (eg for Backwaters tours or other Exlursionen). Our room had Mosquitonetzt and was very clean. The bathroom was fully in order. We had no hot water, but who needs hot water in Kochi? ;) The breakfast was also very good: warm toast with jam and butter, fruit (pineapple, banana, mango), eggs, coffee and tea (as much as one would like :)). The location is beautiful and only about 7 minutes from Kochi's Princess Street (the center of Kochi) away (on foot!). Price / performance ratio is very good!

Traveler rating: "EXCELLENT price / quality ratio" Mar 27, 2012 A TripAdvisor Member Fort Cochin is a popular destination for Western tourists, there are any at all prices, the Kimansion Inn was a pleasant surprise: authentic old building, it has the charm of "true", the rooms are huge, soil and wooden ceiling, everything is time, facing a church, it is not impossible, given its configuration, that have been dedicated to a fraternity house! there is an atmosphere obsolete and engaging the young man that greets you is of the utmost kindness, forget her look somewhat strange, it disappears when he smiles, it is helpful to desire, on the breakfast prepared by a lady of exquisite kindness, we wait eagerly as his omelette is to die for!

“Great hotel in a historical building” 5 of 5 starsReviewed 29 March 2013 The Kimansion Inn is a very characterful historical mansion - very spacious with huge rooms, wooden floors, wooden furniture and tasteful decoration. The location is great: situated at a quiet corner just a 10 min walk from the main center of Fort Cochin. I really enjoyed my 3 night stay here and this was also because of the manager. A very, very nice young man who is very friendly, helpful and concerned about his guests well being. Overall: great hotel! Stayed January 2013, travelled solo

Just south of the Parade square this homestay is in a good location to explore Fort Cochin. Good value for money non-a/c rooms as well as up-grades available for AC which is definitely worth the its in the end of season when temperatures climb and humidity s very high Looked after by Harishi who put lots of effort to making our stay as good as possible BUT he couldn't quite get the AC working properly in our room so busied himself organising room changes. Roos were clean, tidy, spacious. Great breakfasts! Mid price range forth is area and in my view far better value or money tan sod of he pricier establishments nearer he Chinese fishing nets. “Quiet, relaxed, simple” 5 of 5 starsReviewed 16 September 2014 Kimansion lives up touts name - it is a beautiful old mansion, restored a few years ago. This lodging is a very quiet place with a minimum of fuss. Staff are friendly and attentive, the rooms are minimalist and clean, and breakfast is simple and sufficient. Great location right on the edge of the Old Fort Kochi, everything is walkable from here. If you prefer to stay in a B&B/homestay style place, this is the accomm for you. You come and go as you please and feel you can use the entire space (lounge area, kitchen, etc.) if and when you want to. Room Tip: Get an upstairs room with beautiful 25cm wide floorboards, high ceilings and gothic arches everywher...

“An absolute gem” 5 of 5 starsReviewed 12 January 2015 By far one of the nicest hotels with a service second to none. We arrived at Kimansion after a twelve hour taxi journey from Madikeri (400 kms) needless to say we were taken aback when we were told we'd arrived a day early. We were told there was a room and asked if we would like to upgrade to A/C. He showed us the room and we were delighted the room was very large and bathroom had both bath and shower. We upgraded but were told we couldn't occupy the room until the following night as it was booked, the guests would arrive later. The non A/C room we used the first night was also very roomy and the fan kept the room comfortable, in fact the A/C was so cold, we turned it off when staying in that room for any length of time. Breakfast consisted of fruit, toast and an omelette. It was far too much to eat so Harish (the manager, another gem) told us to take the fruit to our room. Overindulgence seems to be the order of the day as on another occasion we had porridge which he served in what I would call a fruit bowl. We explained it was too much and the next time we had porridge the same bowls were only half full, again way too much. Nothing was too much trouble for Harish and I notice in another review someone mentioned it's a bit creepy. I think they are referring to the fact Harish was always around to fill your needs and seem to appear from nowhere when you stepped out of your room. This is just his way of trying to ensure your satisfaction. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone who wants to visit the Fort Kochin area of Kerala. Room Tip: If you want A/C we stayed in room 103 but the wifi was very poor. If wifi is a must then room 102 wa...
